LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - After eight days in the courtroom, the murder trial for the 2010 death of Fidencio Rios Cardenas has ended.
The District Attorney's office secured a guilty plea in its case against Jose Roberto Obregon. Thursday morning, Obregon plead guilty to murder, a first degree felony.
Co-defendant Nicolar Reyes-Sanchez plead guilty to the same charge yesterday. As part of his plea, Obregon will serve 32 years for the murder of Fidencio Cardenas that will run concurrent with his guilty plea in federal court for conspiracy to export arms.
The case is still pending sentencing. The sentencing for both defendants is scheduled for Friday, May 30th, at 10:00 am.
