NUEVO LAREDO, MX (KGNS) - Mexican authorities have arrested the top leader who ran the plaza just across from us in Nuevo Laredo for the Zetas cartel.
Fernando Martinez Magana reportedly took over for the Zetas in the Sister City back in 2011.
Federal authorities tracked him down in Monterrey Thursday after he found out authorities were onto him and fled the city.
Reports show he had been arrested twice before in Tamaulipas, and once in Nuevo Laredo, but was released by authorities.
The 42-year-old, or Zeta diez y sies, is accused of coordinating the smuggling of immigrants from Central America into the US.
