INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WXIN) - Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was arrested on DUI charges in Carmel after being pulled over Sunday night.
The arrest happened around 11:40 p.m. at 131st Street and Horseferry Road, according to the Hamilton County Jail officials.
He faces four felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and a preliminary misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated, according to ESPN.
Irsay, 54, was taken to the Hamilton County Jail with bond set at $22,500. He was released Monday afternoon, and his initial court appearance is March 26.
Irsay has a documented history of problems with prescription drugs. Irsay made the admission as the Colts were negotiating with then-Mayor Bart Peterson to keep the team in Indianapolis.
Local doctor Greg Chernoff was later investigated for prescribing excessive amounts of painkillers. He was accused of writing more than a hundred prescriptions for Irsay and was later sanctioned for writing unnecessary prescriptions. Irsay had gotten the pills from Nora Apothecary on the north side.
