BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Louisiana man was arrested after authorities said he drove drunk to the police station to report an accident.

Patrick Ruffner, 31, called state police on Saturday night, saying his vehicle had been struck by a hit-and-run driver on Interstate 10 in Baton Rouge, according to The Associated Press.

Officers told him to come to the station to file an accident report.

When Ruffner arrived, a trooper smelled alcohol on him and administered field sobriety and breath tests.

He was later arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and driving with a suspended license.

Family members told Baton Rouge TV station WAFB that Ruffner blew below the legal limit on the breathalyzer test.

State police said test results would not be available to the media.

According to online court records, Ruffner remained in jail Monday with bond set at $1,000.
