VATICAN CITY (KRIS) - President Barack Obama met Pope Francis for the first time at the Vatican this morning.

The two met for talks expected to focus on poverty and social justice.

After the meeting, President Obama and the Pope exchanged gifts.

Obama presented Francis with with a custom-made seed chest featuring a variety of fruit and vegetable seeds used in the White House garden.

This was President Obama's second visit to the Vatican since his meeting with Pope Benedict the 16th in 2009.
