VENICE, ITALY (NBC) - Voting has begun in Venice, Italy, on whether or not to break away from Italy.
Secession supporters want to create a future state called the Republic of Veneto.
Recent opinion polls suggest two-thirds of eligible voters agree on splitting from Italy. However, the vote will not be legally binding.
The results will be announced March 21st.
