VON ORMY, TX (WOAI) - One child was killed and another seriously injured in a rollover crash on Interstate 35 Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday on northbound Interstate 35 near Mile Marker 142, about a half-mile south of Fischer Road. Police say three adults and two children were traveling north on Interstate 35 in a Chevy Tahoe, when the woman driving swerved for some reason, and the SUV rolled over.
One of the children, a 4-year-old boy, was ejected from the SUV. He died at the scene. The other child, a 5-year-old boy, was partially trapped under the SUV. He was taken to University Hospital in critical condition.
Investigators at the scene say the two boys were not properly strapped in. The adults in the SUV were not injured. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
