CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (KRIS) -- An 85-year-old man is in intensive care tonight after someone attacked and robbed him just a mere steps away from his front door at his home this weekend.
It happened on the 6100 block of Hidden Oaks about 3 Sunday morning.
Louis dodson enjoyed going out dancing. That's exactly what he did Saturday night, but after making it home safely, someone beat him in his carport, leaving him unconscious on the ground. Tonight, no one knows who did it.
"He's bruised from here all the way down to his neck so it was more than just a punch to the head," said his son, Bruce Dodson.
He tells us his father has no idea who beat him early Sunday morning or what they used to beat him. "I'm glad he's not dead, frankly," said the younger Dodson.
The attack was so brutal, it left the older Dodson in intensive care.
"This is not an exaggeration, his jaw was swollen 3 or 4 times the size of normal on one side," Dodson told us.
The culprits stole his wallet and drove off in his truck.
Louis Dodson lied for hours in his own blood in his carport after the attack. Finally he came to and found the strength to ring his own doorbell.
"I opened the door and my dad's all beat up at the front door," Dodson recalled.
Dodson feels the attackers targeted his dad because he is more vulnerable at his age and he wants others to know to keep their loved ones safe from vicious attackers.
"They had to have used a 2x4 or a bat he was hit with something," explained Dodson.
He feels the police department should be doing more to track them down. "So far the police have done nothing other than put a bulIeten out for the truck, that's all they've done," Dodson said.
Dodson did not get a description of his attackers, so it could have been one or more, older or younger, men or women. His truck is still missing, it's a 2005 Silver Silverado with an extended cab and a cover on the back.
