FORT WORTH, TEXAS (KXAS) - A Fort Worth elementary school teacher who resigned last week was arrested Monday and charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 years old, police said.

Juan Jose Soto Rangel , 51, was booked into jail and held on $50,000 bond.

Rangel worked for the Fort Worth Independent School District as a third grade teacher. He was hired in 2008 and quit on Friday, said district spokesman Clint Bond.

Bond would not identify the school where Rangel taught. Asked if the allegations involve one of Rangel’s students, Bond referred the question to police.

Cpl. Tracey Knight, a Fort Worth police spokeswoman, said late Monday she had no additional details about the investigation but did say Rangel was arrested at his home.

Court documents detailing the case could be released on Tuesday.
