KENNESAW, GA (AP) - Police say a suspect in a shooting at a FedEx center outside Atlanta that wounded six people is dead and appears to have shot themselves.

Cobb County police spokesman Michael Bowman said Tuesday the suspect died from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. He says police are still sweeping the package-sorting facility north of Atlanta to make sure there are no other threats.

Police have not reported any other deaths from the shootings that occurred before daybreak. Six people were taken to a local hospital, where a spokesman says one was taken into surgery with potentially critical injuries. He says several others were able to walk off ambulances when they arrived.

The suspected shooter's identity was not immediately released.
