BALCONES HEIGHTS, TEXAS (WOAI) - Balcones Heights police officer Julian Pesina was shot to death outside his tattoo shop on Hillcrest back on May 4th.
The San Antonio Police Department is investigating the murder of the 29-year-old officer, and the FBI is also assisting SAPD with the investigation. Was the murder of this Balcones Heights police officer a gang hit?
News 4 San Antonio first reported our sources say investigators are looking into that connection, and his suspected ties to the Mexican Mafia.
"He was a son, he was a father. This is a very tragic circumstance," said Balcones Heights spokesperson Lorenzo Nastasi.
We asked Nastasi what the City of Balcones Heights had to say about the allegations surrounding the murdered officer.
Nastasi tells News 4 San Antonio the City of Balcones Heights has 21 police officers, with a small department of officers that work patrol, traffic and special events.
On Wednesday, police released photos of a person of interest in connection with Pesina's murder.
Police are hoping someone can help them identify the man, who they believe may have information that could help them solve the case. The man was seen in a dark-colored car with a white hood.
If you recognize the man or have any information about this murder, please immediately call the SAPD Homicide Office at 210-207-7635 or contact CRIME STOPPERS at 224-STOP.
