Pipe bomb discovered in south Waco

Waco police received a call that there was a bomb inside of a residence where a tenant had recently moved out.

Some houses in the area have been evacuated.

WACO, TX (KCEN) - The McLennan County Bomb Squad has been called out to Columbus Ave between 28th and 29th streets to investigate an explosive device.

Responders have been at the scene since around noon on Monday.

Waco police received a call that there was a bomb inside of a residence where a tenant had recently moved out.

When officers arrived, they found a garage apartment behind the residence where a pipe bomb was discovered inside of an ice chest.

The McLennan County Bomb Squad, Police and Fire departments are on scene determining the best course of action to dispose of the bomb.

Some houses in the area have been evacuated. Police ask that people remain indoors until the scene is no longer active.
