SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TX (KVEO) - Over the next few days sheriffs protecting counties along the border, of Texas and across the U.S., are meeting for annual Southwestern Border Sheriff's Coalition to discuss border issues.
Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio says it's a good time for sheriff departments to network. He says agencies have the chance to share problems unique to their counties as well as solutions.
He adds, while each county has special issues, one common issue along the border counties is drugs, and in Cameron County, they're seeing an increase in one particular drug.
Sheriff Lucio said, "We've seen more methamphetamine being crossed here, you know across here, for the simple reason we've made more arrests that we have been able to, with more of the people with the stuff right here."
