BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) - A man on the run since he was convicted in 2007 of killing a mother of three in South Texas has been captured in India.
Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio confirmed the capture of Amit Livingston Friday.
The district attorney scheduled a news conference for Friday afternoon in Brownsville.
Livingston was sentenced to 23 years in prison, when in a strange turn the judge agreed to give him time to get his affairs in order before reporting to prison.
The judge, Abel Limas, and then district attorney, Armando Villalobos, were both later convicted in a bribery conspiracy in which the Livingston case figured.
Livingston, now 46, had killed his 31-year-old former lover Hermila Hernandez and left her body on the beach at South Padre Island in September 2005.
