BROWNSVILLE, TX (KVEO) - Thousands of Texas trucks are stolen and cross the border into Mexico yearly. Most of them are never recovered. One truck was recovered and it's hardly looks the same.

It was stolen out of Roma in 2011 and recovered in Northern Tamaulipas in 2012, the GMC truck left factory standard and came back as a machine of heavy steel.

It's very likely that this armor reinforced truck, equipped with bullet proof glass windows, was transformed by a drug cartel.

The sliding armored panels, in all the windows, also allows for the occupants to fire their weapons safely from inside, but the reinforcement goes far deeper than what meets the eye.

The police department doesn't have a dollar amount on the estimated cost to reinforce the truck, nor do they know the weight. They do say though, they never want it to hit Valley streets. That's why they bought it when it came up at an auction last year.
