AUSTIN, TX (KXAN) – Young Austin entrepreneurs competed in the Best Tasting Lemonade Contest on Sunday.

Some of the awards included Most Creative Recipe, Best Sales Team, Most Innovative, and Most Local, which went to the lemonade that best captured Austin’s spirit. Over 25 participants ages 5–17 put their skills to the test.

The event was held to raise awareness for Lemonade Day Austin, which is a program of Entrepreneurs Foundation of Central Texas. Started by the Houston Entrepreneurs Foundation in 2007, Lemonade Day has expanded to 31 cities across the country. The kids involved have raised $1.5 million from selling lemonade, and they’ve donated over $500,000 to charities.

Lemonade Day aims to spark an early interest in entrepreneurship and let kids know they’re capable of operating their own businesses. Eugene Sepulveda, CEO of Entrepreneurs Foundation of Central Texas, wants young people to understand the importance of ambition.

Lemonade Day Austin will be held Sunday, May 4th.
