SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (WOAI) -- The Supreme Court has refused an appeal from a hit man on death row for a murder for hire plot that killed a San Antonio woman.
41-year-old Rolando Ruiz was convicted of killing 29-year-old Theresa Rodriguez in 1992.
Prosecutors say he was hired by Rodriguez' husband and brother-in-law and was paid $2,000 for the crime.
Ruiz' lawyers argued that jurors in his trial were not aware of his abusive childhood.
Theresa's husband, Michael Rodriguez was also on death row as one of the notorious Texas Seven gang of escapees.
He was executed in 2008.
