EDMONTON, CANADA (NBC) - With an average of 70,000 divorces a year in Canada, lengthy marriages can be rare. Especially one that lasts seven decades. But that's exactly what one Edmonton couple is celebrating.

94 year old Marion Rattray is walking down the aisle in front of friends and family.

The man waiting for her, Alex Rattray, waited here seventy years ago.

They still tease each other about it.

They repeated the same words they did when they were originally married, holding each other's hands.

The effects of aging show just how long they've been together, but they say it wasn't difficult to stay together.

Their sons Don and Doug are standing in for them.

They say for those that know them it isn't surprising they're still together, but they admit celebrating 70 years of marriage sounds kind of crazy.

Alex and Marion say the good people around them kept them going.

As the marriage continues they just hope others getting their picture taken here can have a long lasting memory.
