Pope Francis announces he will meet with a group of sex abuse victims at the Vatican and declare a "zero tolerance" for any member of the clergy who violated a child.

Pope Francis

(NBC) - Pope Francis compared child sex abuse by catholic priests to performing a "satanic mass."

Speaking to reporters on a flight back to Rome after his middle east visit, the pontiff said a priest who abused children "betrays the body of the lord."

Pope Francis also announced he would meet with a group of sex abuse victims at the Vatican and declared a "zero tolerance" for any member of the clergy who violated a child.

It will be the first such encounter for the pontiff.

Pope Francis has been criticized by victims of child sex abuse by priests for not expressing personal solidarity with them when he has reached out to other people who suffer.
