TAMIU athletics is getting ready to kick off their fall season and while many of their athletes are ready to excel on the fields and courts, many of the Dustdevils also dominate in the classroom as well. The school placed 77 of its athletes on the NCAA division two academic achievement list, recognizing the top athletes performances in the classroom across the country. With that number the Dustdevils placed 15th in the country for total athletes honored out of 158 schools. They also ranked tops in the south central region, beating out all other schools from the Heartland, Lone Star and Rocky Mountain Conferences. In order to be named a student athlete has to have a grade point average of three point five or better for two years and be an active member of one of the school’s sports teams.
