Trio of Laredoans Make All-State Football Team

A big congratulations to a trio of Laredo high school football players who were recognized by the Texas Sportswriters Association with honorable mentions in football. A pair of United Longhorns are named with quarterback Derek Esparza and wideout Eric Corona making the cut. The duo was instrumental in united going undefeated through district play with Esparza throwing for over 3,300 yards and 37 touchdowns. 1,200 of those yards and 12 scores went to his favorite target in Corona. Also being named was Alexander wide receiver Marc Lozoya. The Bulldog led the district in receiving with 1,419 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was named the states player of the week after putting up monster numbers against CC Winn, going for 454 yards and six scores in a single game.
