It was all United South Thursday night as the Panthers opened the season in style with a 20-0 win over Nixon. The two sides played to a stalemate for much of the 1st quarter before the Panthers finally broke through. Miguel Lopez plunged in from a yard out to score the first touchdown of the season. South backed it up on their next drive with another six points as Ricardo Hernandez hooked up with Jesse Garza for a 13-0 lead. The Panthers were able to hold on to the shutout, adding another score early in the 3rd quarter as the Mustangs couldn't find the scoreboard.
