United Volleyball Looking to Continue Success

It's not just the beginning of football season, but it's the start of volleyball as well. One team looking to continue their success is the United Longhorns.

United was unlucky the way last year's playoffs worked out. After a four-way tie for the district title, the Longhorns got the fourth seed thanks to a coin flip. They won the bi-district game, but saw their season come to an end in the second round. This year, the team has added some young players to help them get further. The Longhorn volleyball team has put the past behind them are they are looking forward to this season.

“Our team is looking really good. We've been practicing all summer. Some new girls are coming in and that's good for us, they can grow with us. I think it's becoming better every year.”

“Last year, we learned from out mistakes. We went to the second round, we could have won, but sadly we didn't. That just helps us for this year to want it even more and know that if we did it last year, we can do it this year and go further.”

The volleyball season will kick off next week on August 11.
District play will begin in late September.
