10:00 am

Administrative Building Foyer 1110 Washington St. Laredo, Texas 78040
WHAT: The District Attorney’s Office will be hosting a press conference to unveil a public service announcement on gun safety.

WHEN: Tuesday, April 29, 2014 | 10:00 a.m.

WHERE: Administrative Building Foyer, 1110 Washington St. Laredo, Texas 78040

WHY: In 2011, Veronica Astudillo left her .45 caliber handgun in her closet. There was no lock on the door, no lock on the gun case and no lock on the trigger. Her 10-year-old brother tragically killed his 12-year-old friend, Nicolas Moreno. As part of Astudillo’s probation, she was ordered to complete a gun safety public service announcement.

As a great outreach tool to the community, this PSA will heighten awareness on gun safety and the consequences one faces when a firearm is left unsecured. We will be distributing a copy of the PSA to all media outlets at the press conference.
