Rockin the Rio II

Date(s): 8/15/2014

8:30 pm

Laredo Energy Arena
Get ready Laredo!! The hottest rock event of the summer is back! Rockin the Rio II has been set for Friday, August 15, 2014 at 8:30 p.m. Doors open at 7:30pm. This year’s Rockin the Rio features rock band Queensryche with special guests Drowning Pool and The Hunger.

Rockin the Rio started with a simple concept due to the public’s interest in having more rock events. With that in mind the Laredo Energy Arena decided to create Laredo’s very own summer rock fest. Last year we brought Vince Neil, the legendary voice of Motley Crue, Great White and Slaughter. With this year’s lineup, we feel that the 2nd annual event will be even more energetic!

Laredo BorderSlam presents SWSO Send Off

Date(s): 5/29/2014

7:00 pm

Laredo Little Theatre 4802 Thomas Ave, Laredo, TX
Laredo BorderSlam would like to invite you to spend an evening of music, art, and poetry with the LBS Team to wish them well as they prepare to compete against 24 teams from all over Texas, Arkansas, Louisana, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

Enjoy the musical talents from indie band When We Meet at 7pm as they combine their gut-wrenching lyrics with melodic music. The tone of the classical cello, the guitar's sweet sound, and the countless instruments that come in and out in all the various songs makes When We Meet's set tragically beautiful.

The team will hit the stage at 8pm. Support AXL, Eli, Cosmo-Not Bob, Julia, and Miss B as they present their poetry for you on the Laredo LittleTheatre Stage. As these voices trade off lines in group poems or take your through a single emotional journey, you'll be engulfed in the story for those 3-minutes until the poet steps away from the mic.

Santo Vicio will close out the night at 9pm. This psychedelic jazz band takes classic jazz tunes and infuses them with reggae sounds to create a sound that can be appreciated by any ear. Their melody is carried by the saxophone and traded off between the keyboard and guitar creating a battle of call and response phrases that keep your tuned in.

YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS!!
