STAAR exam to be taken in person by students
To take them, UISD students will have to go to their respective high school campuses next week where all safety measures will be put in place.
LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Texas Education Agency has ordered the STAAR exam be done in person by students.
To take them, students will have to go to their respective high school campuses next week.
UISD officials want to re-assure parents all safety measures have been put in place to protect their students.
“We are going to use classrooms, ten children per classroom," said Dolores Barrera. "We are going to have monitors to make sure that the children are safe. We are expecting the children to come with the mask. We are providing pencils every day for them, sharpened already. No one is gonna touch them but the children. They can take them home.”
Students taking the exams will be provided with breakfast and lunch.
Bus services will also be available.
The TEA has informed the districts that they are working to reduce the number of students taking the test in a single day.
