Local hospitalization rate increases overnight
The state is requesting a couple of things from the City of Laredo in order to send in additional medical personnel to local hospitals.
LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Laredo health authority says that as Laredo’s hospitalization rate increases, additional state medical personnel is being sought.
According to Doctor Victor Trevino, several meetings between the local task force and the state are taking place with Laredo asking for help.
However, the state is requesting a couple of things from the city:
- The city must create a cushion of 10 to 15 percent hospitalization rate at the local hospitals
- All available resources, including overflow facilities and step down facilities must be utilized
- Local physicians need to appropriately transfer patients to these facilities to allow for decompression
- Finally, the city must utilize state strike teams when appropriate to transfer patients out of town
This will be crucial, as the reactivation of more medical personnel directly impacts the hospital’s capacity and the hospitalization rate.
