LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - It’s been over a year since the Laredo Police Department unveiled their Real Time Crime Center.

The surveillance system allows crews to keep a close watch for any illegal activity and can then feed that information back to officers working out on the field.

We’re told the system has proved vital, especially when an officer has to rely on extra information that may come from a second set of eyes.

”The most important part is that we have more eyes in the street,” said Sergeant David Balderas. “With people assigned here at the Real Time Crime Center, it makes it easier for us to be able to help the officer and be able to have eyes on certain parts of the city, wherever there’s cameras.”

We’re told they’re hoping to expand the crime center’s view to include more parks.
