LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) -A woman is facing charges after allegedly lying on her resume.

Laredo Police say 38-year-old San Juana Deyanira Villarreal used a fake university transcript to get a job with the City of Laredo.

Villarreal was working as a program coordinator for the health department and after a thorough investigation, police found out she had no academic record with any type of higher learning institution.

Villarreal was arrested on Wednesday and charged with fraudulent, substandard or fictitious degree- and tampering with government records to defraud.

In a statement, the city says, “They have implemented changes and added new protocols to its current hiring practices in order to prevent this from occurring again. They go on to say, they have hired a third party company to work along its HR department to help in verifying educational background.”
