Two men wanted in connection to shooting of Balcones Police officer

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) -Authorities in the San Antonio area are on the lookout for a couple of fugitives wanted in connection with the shooting and attempted capital murder of Police Sergeant J. Sepulveda.

Police believe two men identified as Sijifredo Montemayor III, 30 years old, and Wilfredo Montemayor, 27, are the men involved in the case.

Authorities believe they are traveling to south Texas so they can attempt to flee to Mexico.

The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon when two Balcones Heights Police officers responded to a possible burglary call at an apartment complex.

Sergeant Sepulveda was the first one on the scene and began talking to the suspects. At some point, an altercation escalated and the officer and suspects exchanged gunfire.

Sepulveda was shot multiple times and taken to the hospital in critical condition.
