Trooper Chad Walker dies after roadside shooting near Mexia
Chad Walker was kept on life support in order to be an organ donor
MEXIA, TX. (KGNS) -A Texas State Trooper, shot in the line of duty last weekend, has passed away.
The Texas Department of Public Safety announced the passing of Trooper Chad Walker on Wednesday.
They say on Friday Walker approached a car that was parked alongside a highway near Mexia.
The driver got out of the car and fired at Walker several times, according to DPS.
Walker was taken to a local hospital but by Monday officials said he had no viable brain activity.
He was kept on life support in order to be an organ donor.
The 38-year-old Walker is survived by his wife and four-children.
The suspect was found the day after the shooting, dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
