LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Crews were spotted in the middle of the Rio Grande on Wednesday morning.
The International Boundary Water Commission was seen measuring river flow using specialized equipment.
They explained that they check up on river levels monthly to make sure that water released from Amistad Dam in Del Rio is reaching the Rio Grande and Falcon Dam in Zapata.
With the measurements, they can verify whether or not the water is being illegally used by ranchers.
