LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) - Three residents who live in the Mines Road area are lucky to be alive after a massive house fire destroyed their home.

The blaze happened on Friday morning at around 10:15 a.m. at a home located at the 11000 block of Revilla Drive.

According to the Laredo Fire Department, when crews arrived, they found the back patio area completely engulfed in flames.

The electric company was called in to disable the power while crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

Firefighters managed to put the fires out just as it was starting to spread to surrounding homes.

“This was a pretty big fire as half the house was well involved”, said Laredo Fire Department District Chief Juan R. Cardenas.

It actually spread a little bit to the house on the right side of it which affected the soffit area of the next-door house but that was about it but the house itself this one did receive a lot of damage.”

The three residents were examined by paramedics, and they were determined to be in good health.

When asked if the Red Cross had been contacted to help the family, they stated that they are planning on staying at a family members house for right now.

The fire remains under investigation.
