Police: Newborns found dead in trash in Cleveland; teen mother located
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO/Gray News) - The Cleveland Division of Police said Monday that the two babies found dead were left in a trash can.
Police located the bodies Saturday in the city’s Buckeye Shaker Square neighborhood. According to a police report, the infants’ grandmother called 911 after discovering the infants dead in the garbage.
She told dispatchers her 16-year-old daughter, the children’s mother, threw them in the trash after giving birth days prior, the report said.
Officers tracked the teen girl to Bedford, where they took her to a local hospital for treatment, according to the report.
Officials did confirm an arrest was made in this case. Police said investigators will present the facts of the case to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office.
