LPD confirms Capital Murder suspect is in custody

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Laredo Police Department can confirm that Capital Murder suspect Cesar Tijerina is in custody of the law enforcement agency that has been seeking him out.

News broke earlier today that LPD was called at 4 a.m. to the 5000 block of Palmito Dr. There, they encountered Tijerina who had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Tijerina is a wanted murder suspect in the death of a San Antonio high school student who was killed back in April.

Tijerina was first transported to a local hospital but was then flown out to a San Antonio hospital and has since been turned over to the authorities in San Antonio.

San Antonio Police Department reported that four months ago, Tijerina and other boys followed 14-year-old Simon Cuevas as he was leaving home. One boy pulled out a gun, shooting and killing Cuevas.
