Man wanted for capital murder in San Antonio found in Laredo with a gunshot wound

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Laredo Police Department thought they were responding to a suicide attempt, yet they found out the suspect was wanted for Capital Murder.

Officers responded to the 5000 block of Palmito Dr. where they found 20-year-old Cesar Tijerina with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Tijerina was then transported to the hospital and later flown out to a San Antonio hospital.

A warrant for his arrest is in connection to the murder of a high school student in San Antonio.

Around four months ago, Tijerina, along with a few other boys, happened to follow a young 14-year-old Simon Cuevas who was leaving school. The group of boys started attacking Cuevas, one boy pulled out a gun, shooting and killing him.

This investigation remains ongoing.
