Lisely Garza

Lisely Garza was born and raised in North Texas.

Ever since she was in high school she knew she wanted to be a journalist.

She took journalism, photojournalism, yearbook and newspaper classes since 2012.

After graduating high school she attended Richland College and received her associate degree in Mass Communication F.O.S Broadcast Journalism in 2018.

Then transferred to the University of North Texas where she received her Bachelors in Broadcast and Digital Journalism along with a minor in Spanish and a profesional Spanish Certification in May of 2020.

She interned at the Denton-Record Chronicle and also did freelance work until 2020. She was part of the photography and digital team.

She began her journalism career in 2021 at KGNS as a reporter and later became the weekend evening anchor.

She left Laredo to continue journalism in Austin, TX at Univision Austin. Covering stories that impact the Hispanic community. She covered politics, education, immigration and severe weather as a multimedia journalist.

Now she is back in Laredo anchoring the weekend evening shows and reporting during the week.

Her favorite stories to cover are border/ immigration news , education, health and public affairs.
