The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a head-on collision that sent a woman to the hospital over the weekend.

The accident happened on Friday, October 4th at around 5:50 m. on Highway 83 near mile marker 736.

Authorities say the crash happened roughly two miles south of the Webb and Zapata County Line.

According to preliminary reports, a gray Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound and attempted to pass a tractor-trailer when it went head-on with a white Buick Regal.

The collision caused the Buick to spin out of control and strike a fence on the east side of the highway.

Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Silverado also spun around and rolled over.

One of the female passengers of the Silverado was completely thrown from the vehicle during the rollover.

The woman was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital.

No word on her condition at the moment.
