LAGRANGE, GA (NBC) - Authorities in Georgia have launched an investigation after the body of a newborn baby was discovered inside a cooler bag alongside the road.
The infant's corpse was found Sunday afternoon on Boy Scout Road in Troup County.
Officials say someone happened to be driving by and noticed the bright cooler bag decorated in watermelons.
Details about the cause of death and the sex of the baby have not been released at this time.
Authorities believe the bag may have been on the side the road for at least four days or as long as a week.
The Troup County Sheriff's Department says they are waiting to figure out what happened.
Before they release the type of charges the suspect will face.
An autopsy is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
