LAREDO,Texas(KGNS)- The controversial wire set up along the border by US soldiers weeks ago will be coming down soon.
In a statement sent out by Representative Henry Cuellar, he says he had spoken with Manny Padilla the director of the Joint Task Force-West, who informed him that they will be removing the wire.
The wire had originally been installed in an attempt to slow down members of the migrant caravan at the border.
Cuellar says it's a welcomed change and that he is encouraged to see a resolution has been agreed upon.
He says he understands that if the circumstances change in the future there will be a need to look for ways in which border security can be reinforced.
