Better Business Bureau doesn't want you to have a bad romance

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - With Valentine’s Day just a couple of days away, many might be looking to spend it with that special someone.

However, during this time, many scammers might be looking to take advantage of those looking for love.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, over 14,000 romance scams were reported to the FBI last year.

The Better Business Bureau has plenty of tips to help you avoid finding love in all the wrong places.

The Better Business Bureau is advising those who frequently go online to be on alert for fake profiles and people who are looking to ask for money.

Experts also recommend checking social media profiles by doing a Google image search and making sure that the photo doesn’t belong to another website.

Money experts also recommend to never give out any personal information online such as social security numbers, credit card numbers, or banking information.

If you feel like the person you are communicating with may be trying to scam you, delete and report the person on the social media site.
Overall, the Better Business Bureau wants you to have a fun and safe Valentine’s Day.
