Border Patrol agents arrest two juveniles for human smuggling
Agents with the Laredo Sector Border Patrol foiled two attempts to smuggle undocumented immigrants.
Border Patrol Agents say the first incident happened on October 4th when a juvenile attempted to smuggle two undocumented immigrants.
Agents at the I-35 checkpoint encountered a young man driving a vehicle at the primary inspection lane.
The driver was questioned regarding his immigration status and was referred to secondary inspection after a Border Patrol canine alerted to the presence of concealed humans and or narcotics.
After further inspection of the car, Border Patrol agents discovered two men concealed in the trunk of the vehicle.
The two men were believed to be from Brazil and the driver was a juvenile from Guatemala.
The juvenile was also a recipient of the DACA program.
The second incident happened on October 7th when another juvenile attempted to smuggle in one undocumented immigrant. Agents at the I-35 checkpoint referred a vehicle to secondary inspection.
When agents searched the vehicle they found an adult in the trunk of the car.
The man was believed to be from Mexico. The juvenile was from Mexico and was a recipient of the DACA program as well.
All three of the undocumented immigrants were processed to be deported.
As a result of their arrests, the juvenile drivers were processed to be deported as a violation of their DACA conditions.
