Border Patrol agents find almost 80 illegal immigrants inside tractor trailer

Border Patrol agents of the Laredo Sector nearly 80 illegal immigrants locked inside a tractor trailer during an alleged human smuggling attempt.

According to Border Patrol, the incident happened on Saturday at the I-35 checkpoint when agents encountered a tractor trailer at the primary inspection lane.

The driver and passenger, both United States Citizens were referred to secondary inspection after a canine alerted to the presence of concealed humans or illegal narcotics.

Agents say the driver failed to yield for inspection and continued driving on I-35, leading agents on a vehicle pursuit.

Agents were able to finally stop the trailer at mile marker 30.

When agents searched the trailer, they found 78 immigrants who are determined to be from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Brazil, Ecuador, India and the Dominican Republic.

The driver and the passenger were both arrested and the trailer was seized by Border Patrol.

All of the immigrants will be processed accordingly.
