Border Patrol agents halt smuggling atempt

LAREDO,Texas(KGNS)- Laredo South Border Patrol Agents responded to a report of suspicious activity near the intersection of Anna Avenue and Burnside Street in Laredo, Texas.

As agents arrived to further investigate the report, they discovered 2 bundles abandoned on a trail leading from the Rio Grande River.

Agents continued their search of the area and encountered two individuals swimming back to Mexico.

The bundles were determined to contain a total of 148.5 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $118,800.00 dollars.

The narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.
