LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Border Patrol agents seized over a half a million dollars’ worth of illegal narcotics during an alleged drug smuggling attempt.
According to Border Patrol, the incident happened on December 17th at the I-35 checkpoint when agents encountered a white Chevrolet Colorado.
Agents say during questioning, a canine alerted to the presence of concealed narcotics.
When agents searched the vehicle, they found five bundles of alleged cocaine in a hidden compartment.
The cocaine weighed at 13 pounds and had an estimated street value of $678,720.
The driver, a United States Citizen was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security.
