CBP officers seize close to $900K in illegal narcotics

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized nearly $900,000 dollars’ worth of illegal narcotics at a Laredo port of entry over the weekend.

According to CBP, the incident happened on Saturday, February 10th at the Lincoln Juarez Bridge when officers referred a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta to secondary inspection.

The vehicle was driven by a 41-year-old man from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.

When agents search the vehicle, they found a total of 15 packages, each containing illegal narcotics.

Agents say they found seven packages, which contained 16.75 pounds of cocaine, eight packages, which contained 19.38 pounds of meth and nine packages, which contained 21.82 pounds of heroin.

The narcotics had a total estimated street value of $895,500.

CBP officials seized the narcotics and the case was turned over to Homeland Security.
