CBP officers seize over a million dollars worth of illegal narcotics

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection seize over a million dollars’ worth of illegal narcotics at a Laredo port of entry during two separate incidents.

According to CBP, the first incident happened on January 9th at the Lincoln Juarez Bridge when an officer referred a 2016 Volvo Commercial Bus for secondary inspection.

When officers searched the vehicle they found three packages, which contained 28 pounds of alleged crystal meth.

The meth had an estimated street value of $567,023.

The second seizure happened on the same day at the World Trade Bridge when an officer refereed a 1997 tractor trailer to secondary inspection.

Officers say the driver was hauling a shipment of fresh jalapenos at the time.

When agents searched the tractor trailer, they found 1,528 packages, which contained a total of 2,382 pounds of alleged marijuana hidden within the commercial shipment.

The marijuana had an estimated street value of $476,458.

Both seizures combined have an estimated street value of $1,043,481.

CBP officers seized the narcotics and both cases were turned over to Homeland Security.
