LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than $2.6 million dollars worth of illegal narcotics over the weekend.
The first incident happened on Friday, November 30th when officers at the World Trade Bridge referred a Volvo Tractor that was hauling a shipment of barbed wire for secondary inspection.
The vehicle was driven by a 27-year-old man from Monterrey, Mexico.
When officers searched the car, they found 160 packages which contained, 4,239 pounds of marijuana.
Later that day, officers at the same port of entry encountered a Kenworth tractor driven by a 35-year-old man from Michoacan, Mexico.
When officers searched the vehicle they found 91 pounds of alleged methamphetamine.
The narcotics combined have an estimated street value of $2,673,297.
The officers seized the tractors and the narcotics and the case was turned over to HSI.
