School land funds agreement signed

LAREDO,Texas(KGNS)- An agreement over the disbursement of school land funds was renewed between three school districts within the County and Commissioners Court.

In 2006, the agreement was originally made between Webb County, United ISD, Laredo ISD, and Webb Consolidated ISD.

By law, the districts must use the funding for either bond indebtedness or for the creation of brick -and- mortar projects.

United ISD, for example, is using this money in order to create their new natatorium.

Each district receives a percentage of these funds based on a scholastic based methodology.

The funding for these districts is distributed based on the number of students residing within the three independent school districts.

During the meeting, Commissioner Galo mentioned that they need to do more research into this methodology and get to the precise lawful distribution numbers, and make changes if need be.
