LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - A morning car accident leaves hundreds of residents without power in Central Laredo.
Laredo Police were called out to the intersection of Saunders and Barcelona where a vehicle slammed into a utility pole, knocking out power in the process.
Police say the driver of the vehicle allegedly got out of his car and fled on foot.
Authorities had to direct traffic while crews worked to remove the live wires.
Saunders had to be blocked off to the traveling public until they could clear the area.
AEP is currently working on restoring power to those residents who were affected by the incident.
Police were able to arrest the driver, Alejandro Sanchez, 18.
He is facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance since police found two baggies of alleged cocaine in the car and a charge of hit and run.
